The Vitality Program, recognises the importance of maintaining and improving mental health and wellness. As part of our program we offer each participant the opportunity for a one on one private consultation with a mental health clinician to assist them in developing strategies to maintain or improve mental health.

This session is offered to all participants, and is not an evaluation or such just an opportunity to discuss self management ways to influence our mental health, and should the need arise assist you to find further mental health support.

Social Activities

The Vitality Program aims to make meaningful changes to your life. We believe one of the most meaningful changes is to improve social interaction. We would like all graduates of the Vitality program to increase their participation in the community.

Clinical research suggests that individuals who participate in group cultural activities are less likely to exhibit the signs and symptoms of frailty (Fushiki et al, 2012).

Social interaction in a group is often a great way of helping you stay physically active. However there is growing evidence from long-term studies that certain factors are associated with increased or decreased risk of cognitive decline. For example people who exercise their brain more with mentally stimulating activity have been demonstrated to be half as likely to develop cognitive decline, compared to those who have undertaken less mentally stimulating activity.

The Vitality program offers 9 group sessions in which we aim to create a social environment in which you can meet new people and perhaps rekindle old friendships. The group program is an opportunity to invite other participants into your activities or begin new activities with each other such as coffee clubs, card games and walking groups. The ideas are endless. Our group facilitators aim to provide an environment in which connecting with other people and other activities or community groups is supported and valued.
